Let go of those handlebars!

One of my biggest pet peeves at the gym are the folks who hold onto the treadmill while they work out.

At what point in life do you find yourself walking and have something to hold onto? Something in which you can rest part of your body weight? Have you ever went hiking up a hill and had handles to which you could hold onto and help pull you up the hill? No. You haven’t. So if you are planning on using the incline on the treadmill and set it as such a high speed why in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks would you counter that effort by holding onto the treadmill?

Why not just set it at a pace that you can handle and set a goal to someday walk, uphill, at that pace? Would do you a lot better.

I don’t know which is worse, the lady who has the treadmill set at 5 MPH and tries to walk at that speed by holding onto the treadmill for dear life or the guy who walks on the treadmill at 2 MPH while talking on the phone.

Not to mention this guy just looks ridiculous swinging his hips like that.
